My name is Mr. Abdoulie Nanko. I attended Gambia College School Public Health from 2005 to 2008 and worked with the Ministry of Health of Gambia for 4 years. In 2012 I joined the University of Gambia to have a Bachelors Degree in Public Health which I completed in 2014 to work with the Gambia College as the Head of School of Public Health. In 2017 I went back to the University of Gambia to do my masters program in Health Promotion and Development and completed in 2019. Currently I am working in the University of Gambia in School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences at the Department of Public and Environmental Health as a fulltime Lecturer.

Rohey Njie is a public health professional from The Gambia in western Africa. Raised by her grandmother in a rural community, Rohey saw first-hand damaging effects of traditional medicine and was determined to step into the field of Public Health to help others. Through relentless study and discipline, she gained a scholarship for college and became the first person in her family to enter university. She became the only woman in her public health – health promotion program and excelled quickly. Upon graduation in 2009 to June 2019, she rose through the ranks of a public health officer, health education and promotion officer and became a Senior Program Officer for Ministry of Health in the Gambia. Rohey’s work focus on advocacy, community engagement and social and behaviour change communication. While working with the health communication division where she was responsible for planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion programs, including immunizations, social mobilization, and disease prevention made her implemented several interventions and response programs working with as well as supporting and empowering individuals, families and communities with health information to enable them take control of their own health and wellbeing. Rohey had also represented her country in international conferences including: the global conference on Health Promotion in Nairobi 2009, validation workshop on communication strategy for maternal health in Burkina Faso 2012, workshop on mental health leadership and advocacy program in Nigeria 2014, the 10th Stop cervical, Breast and Prostate Cancer pre- summit training in Addis Ababa Ethiopia 2016. In July 2019, she was recruited by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative of the CDC Atlanta and trained as field epidemiologist and communication specialist in Kampala, Uganda. From there, she was assigned to Nigeria at WHO/UNICEF as a STOP C4D Consultant and continued her work with public health interventions to fight against polio and other public health problems.
